Week 20: The View On The Ground
Change your perspective,
take a look down to see
what's happening on the ground.

I am going to apologize, in advance. This post is going to be a bit of personal rant. There are not a lot of things that make me really angry but this would be one of them.

This is what I saw on the ground in the park while out for an evening stroll this week.

Yes, that is a discarded fast food wrapper and a used facial tissue on the ground! Right beside a garbage can that was almost empty!

Why can't people make the effort to actually drop their garbage into the can instead of on the ground beside it? Is it that difficult? I don't think so. I imagine even a child could do it.

While walking further along the path, I came across a lot more discarded trash. Can I suggest that if there is not a garbage can nearby that you stuff it in your pocket or hold it in your hand until you get to one?

It is totally inappropriate to litter our public parks and shared spaces, a thoughtless act conducted by thoughtless people!

*Stepping down off my soapbox*

In case you are wondering, yes, I did pick up the trash that I encountered and put it into the garbage bin on my way back to my car.

  1. No need to apologize, I totally agree w/you,...it's not that hard to actually 'make' it into the trash bins!! I always wish I could pick up cigarette butts, trash, etc. and put those things smack dab in the middle of the living room floor of the folks who threw them on the ground and then be a fly on the wall to see their expression when they come home to discover their lovely 'trashy' environment. Yeah,...don't get me started,....LOL!! :-)

  2. Everyday I walk a beautiful walk with my dogs down at the River Wye, just 5 mins walk from my house, its a beautiful, quiet walk, buzzing bumble bees, butterflies, damelflies, ducks, swans, cows in the field, sheep in orchard, totally beautiful. After a nice sunny day/weekends, like today, families will have enjoyed the river walk, had a picnic, maybe a nice cold drink from a bottle or can, occasionally even a bbq. They will leave the bbq's, the empty bottles, the wrappers, sanitary products, nappies...all used...the plastic rings that hold beer cans together, just perfect for the swans and ducks to get trapped in, the cows will have had their fence cut and the calves will be wandering freely on the dusty path by the steep drop to the river. You are not the only one to rant, its sad and its un called for...getting of my soap box now....

  5. Littering is one of my pet peeves also. I am amazed how lazy some people are.
