Focus on Life: Week 12

Week 12: Expression
Whether it is someone by themselves or
interacting with others, the way a person expresses
themselves is always so interesting.
This week we are checking out expression.

As soon as I read this week's prompt, I knew exactly the photo that I wanted to use. At a recent family gathering, I was taking pictures of everyone in attendance.

I was trying desperately to get my granddaughter to smile for me. No luck. Finally, I said 'Justin Beiber' and this is the expression I got. I guess she doesn't like the Canadian superstar. *smile*

I was actually trying to follow Sally's instructions to 'Andy Warhol' the original photo but I simply could not get it to come out the way I wanted. So, I played around in PhotoShop and altered the photo as you see it above. You can see the disdain in her face, can't you?

And what does the expression on my cat's face say? I can 'hear' several comments coming from her.

"What are you looking at?"

"Do you have to watch me while I eat?"

"Can't you find anything better to feed me?"

"While you're here, you might as well fill up the bowl again!"

    1. I'm just glad that my finger clicked the button on the camera at just the right time. A second or two later, and I would have missed the expressive shot of my granddaughter..

    1. I even asked my granddaughter if I could use this photo, as altered, on my blog post this week. Initially, she said that I should choose a more pleasing photo of her. But when I explained the topic this week and how much I love this expression, she told me to go ahead and use it. *smile*

  3. Oh my the 'cat talk' made me bust out laughing because I can completely hear a cat saying all of those things, especially this one w/the expression on her face!! LOVE it. And the snapshot of your daughter and those edits you did - awesome!!! I haven't tried that yet, so I do hope it's not next week's prompt! LOL!

    1. I'm going to try the Andy Warhol technique again. I don't think the original photo had enough contrast to make it work.

  4. Great photos! I didn't get the Andy Warhol photo to my satisfaction so I ditched it. Cats really do show expressions, mostly disdain in my experience.

    1. Yes, cats can show disdain, disgust and a sense of entitlement all with one look. *smile*

  5. Oh, I love that expression! Probably because it's the same one I would give if someone said Justin Bieber to me! I definitely think your kitty said all those things and more, lol!

  7. I like how you "Andy Warholed" the photo of your granddaughter. And your interpretation of your cat's expression brought a smile to my face.

  8. I think most people would do disdain for Justin! I think the cat is saying I'm trying to eat why are you bugging me!
